UNZA programs and courses

UNZA is Zambia's oldest and one of its largest public universities, with schools covering fields such as humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, education, agricultural sciences, health sciences, law and more. Always confirm the current list of programs and entry requirements on UNZA's official website.

Freshman Hub's My Program feature (school, program, course, with search) is available for CBU today and is being prepared for UNZA.

How to apply to UNZA

Applications, closing dates and entry requirements are set by UNZA, so use the official website and official notices for the current process. In general you will need your Grade 12 certificate with the credits your chosen program requires, your national ID (NRC) or passport, and the documents listed in the application notice.

Choose the program first, then check its subject requirements, so you do not apply for something you do not qualify for.

UNZA accommodation and living in Lusaka

Like most public universities, UNZA's on-campus residences cannot house every student, so many students rent off campus in and around Lusaka. Start early, visit if you can, and compare distance, transport, safety, rent and what is included.

When UNZA arrives in Freshman Hub you will see on-campus residence details and off-campus listings the same way as for CBU today.

Registration, orientation and your first weeks

Expect to accept your place, sort out fees or sponsorship, register for your courses and attend orientation. Dates change each year, so rely on UNZA's official notices.

Our first-year checklist covers what to do before you arrive, in your first week and in your first semester.

Grades and GPA

Most courses combine continuous assessment (CA) with a final exam, then convert marks to grades and GPA points. Check the exact scheme in your programme handbook. Our general guide explains how GPA is usually calculated.
